Who's the Fairest of Them All The 3rd Annual Blythe Beauty Contest!

We are pleased to announce the call for entries for the 3rd Annual Blythe Beauty Contest! The three categories of this competition are: "Miss Natural Beauty" a competition to select the most beautifully enhanced Neo Blythe with a presentation of both casual and formal attire; "Miss Special Beauty" to select the most beautifully enhanced Neo Blythe using creative customizing skills with a presentation of either casual and formal attire; "Miss Petite Beauty" ( a new category) to select the most beautifully enhanced Petite Blythe with a presentation of either casual and formal attire.

General Rules

  • Any type of stock Takara Neo or Petite Blythe can be entered.
  • Each team is allowed 1 to 5 members.
  • A team member cannot belong to multiple teams.
  • A leader must be designated as the contact for the team. Please supply all contact information for your team leader.
  • Each member's role must be clearly defined.
  • When submitting your photos and entry form, please indicate which photo you would like us to use for the main visual to represent your entry.
  • Entrants should not post photographs of their dolls in any medium until official permission is given by CWC.
  • It is mandatory for one member of the Semi-Finalist team to appear in Tokyo, Japan at the 7th Anniversary Charity Event in June, 2008.
  • All entrants under 18 years of age must have written parental consent.
  • Please refrain from contacting the judges prior to the competition.
  • Your completed doll including accessories should be no larger than 38cm H x 25cm W x 38cm D for display at the event.
  • Please do not contact our offices about the status of your entry before the Semi-Finalists are announced.

  • Please use the standard style stand for your doll. Do not use "Standing Ovation".

What do Judges look for in an entry?

The initial selection is made by reading the entry form and looking at the photographs. The presentation of the entry also makes an impression. The concept and story is important as well as the naming of the entry. The details presented in the photos must be clearly visible. The image photo should reflect the concept of the doll. At the live presentation, the judges will view the doll up close. They will look at the stitching, colors, fabric selection, technical skills and originality. Each team leader will present their doll to the judges in a short private interview. This interview will also make an impression on the judges. At the live presentation on the runway, the judges will also be influenced by the reaction of the audience.

Miss Natural Beauty

  1. Do not open the head or remove the scalp of Blythe.
  2. Changing the shape or facial expression through carving or sculpting is prohibited for this category.
  3. Do not re-root the hair.
  4. Do not alter the face mold or enlarge the eyeholes.
  5. Entrants can cut, perm, dye and style the hair.
  6. Entrants can sand and change the texture of the skin.
  7. Entrants can customize the lashes.
  8. Entrants can redo the make-up - eye shadow, blush, lip color, lip shape.
  9. Entrants can paint tattoos or marks on skin.
  10. Entrants can add earrings.
  11. Entrants can change the front facing eye chips.

Requirements:

  1. One doll per entry.
  2. One casual outfit with accessories.
  3. One formal outfit with accessories.
  4. Both outfit will be presented on stage at the event.

Miss Special Beauty

  1. Entrants can open the scalp and head
  2. Entrants can change the hair in any way.
  3. Entrants can change the face in any way.
  4. Entrants can make numerous cosmetic changes.
  5. Entrants must enter one outfit with accessories .
  6. Blythe must remain a human
  7. No entry will be selected that can be found offensive to any race, gender, religion or ideological platform.
  8. We will not accept any use of gore or horror.

Miss Petite Beauty

Exactly the same as "Miss Natural Beauty"
Except for the following requirements:

  1. One to three dolls per entry.
  2. One outfit with accessories per doll.
  3. A Little Lodge display case must be used as part of the presentation, up to 3 Little Lodge can be used.
  4. Your overall presentation must convey a story or theme.
  5. Your completed display with dolls and accessories should be no larger than 38cm H x 25cm W x 38cm D.
